‘FATA parliamentarians will oppose NRO’

LAHORE: Lawmakers from FATA have decided to oppose the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in parliament, a private TV channel quoted Munir Orakzai, leader of parliamentarians from the Tribal Area, as saying on Monday. Talking to the channel, he said such bills were capable of derailing the democratic system, adding the “controversial ordinance" lacked both public and political support. Earlier, he had requested Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to accept their resignations and allocate them seats on opposition benches. Orakzai also said his party members would not participate in a meeting of the PPP's coalition partners as their demand for replacement of the NWFP governor had not been met. On MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s suggestion to President Asif Ali Zardari to resign, Orakzai said he would comment after discussing the issue with all stakeholders. daily times monitor/online
